"First we are children to our parents, then parents to our children, then parents to our parents, then children to our children," said Milton Greenblatt, Author of Homelessness

It is no surprise that today in the world, there exists a difference in approach, namely traditional and modern, in choices and decision making, in behaviour, and in perceptions. Generation gap can be called as the differences of beliefs, opinions, behaviour, lifestyle, and attitude among the older generations and the younger generations. As these differences grow deeper, the generation gap is increasing which is leading to a lack of communication and interaction between the two.

With age, comes experience, and sometimes it is better to do things their way. Meanwhile, what the elder generation lacks at times is a dynamic thought process, tech-savviness, and the ability to look at the world with different lenses. Over time our opinions start getting fixated. The ability to perceive is an important tool. Imagine where would the world be today had not young entrepreneurs and interns put forward different ideas? But what really led to success was a striking balance between experience and dynamic thought process.

Communication is a powerful weapon to achieve many things and it can be used to bridge the generation gap as well. Needless to say, communication is a two-way street, so both the generations need to work on bridging the gap. These gaps need to be mended in every sphere like work, family, and public places. In the family, living together, or spending time together, communicating, playing games suitable for every generation in the family works profoundly. Understanding each other's point of view is of utmost importance. At the workplace, the solution to bridging is the interaction amongst the hierarchies. A weekly rapport building activity and ice-breakers are said to bring about a lot of difference. This world today needs both, the older generations to pass on their experiences to the younger generation and for the younger generation to inculcate these important experiences in their progressive ideas and walk hand-in-hand. Because let us agree to this, the world needs both to progress and so do we need the other, personally and individually.   The little change in the perspective makes miracles, so why not this!
