When advertising began in early 1960, it was really a straightforward business. It showed you a product, told you what it did, where you could get it and what it cost. But today the impetus of industry has undergone a drastic change. Adverts know us very well and therefore tease us with promises of love, friendship, success but then go on merely selling us things which we hardly need. They lure people to buy their products by playing with the psychology of consumers for their own benefit.
Adverts operate with a very good understanding of what consumers really need, they try to manipulate us emotionally for the sake of their own good. Then their publicity strategies are far more than excellent, through hook and crook they manage to reach out to large audiences and unfortunately, they are the most reached videos to the public. They tie-up with big stars, sports stars. social media influencers or other people which common person look forward to in order to promote their products in the market and create an emotional connect with their consumers. They also have catchy taglines for their products, which leave a thought in the public.
But don’t forget that the sole purpose of these advertisements is to earn money, they don’t give a damn about the impacts that they have on their consumers. Today the consumer rights acts are getting stronger day by day and law is completely favouring consumers. Still, there are loopholes which these adverts leave no chance to take benefit from. The tricks they play while advertising is quite clever. Have we ever thought why aren’t there vegetables in the Maggi we make from the packet we open? Why aren’t the soft drinks so fizzy as they are shown on the television? Sarcastically, that is the photography which should be appreciated.
There are a few clever tricks that will be revealed in this article. Soft drinks look so fizzy as they add up antacids to them and the steam that evolves out is due to the wet cotton balls that are heated up. The magical secret hidden behind the fresh-looking vegetables in huge restaurants is that hair sprays and deodorants are sprayed on them. Most surprisingly, the cone ice-creams that are sold constitute mashed potatoes rather than the cream. Real cream would melt in the hot Sun. Since childhood, we were being fooled, and even after knowing this, we’d still tempt for ice-creams. There is a huge difference in the buns that are sold in the market and the buns we get to eat in the restaurants as hamburgers. They seem quite polished; we all think it is the quality that is maintained by them, but no; those buns are polished using the brown shoe polish. This seems legit!
We all encounter a lot of advertisements on milk. Essentially, milk is the only ingredient which completes the food. But, in the advertisements, milk is replaced by glue. Otherwise, the cereals that are in the milk would appear soggy. This is shocking. Strawberries are actually pale red in nature. The redder they appear, the darker is the shade of lipstick applied to them. These were a few discoveries that were known. At the end of the day, this is business! We are their honourable customers purchasing their products.
