Robert Kiyosaki writes in his famous book Rich Dad Poor Dad, that he and his friend started their first business (casting nickels out of lead) at the age of 9. Eventually, it was illegal. Instead of losing hope they soon started a new venture of the comic library. And this is how they build their first successful business.
Entrepreneurship – the coolest carrier as it sounds, it is the much stressful, skilled, and patient process. Thus by putting its roots in childhood a nation gets skilled, creative, innovative, and produces adult entrepreneurs.
They don’t just create a product/service to fulfill needs and to grow the economy but also impact the world to make a better place to live.
Entrepreneurship is not all about learning finances, marketing, and sales, but it also teaches honesty, integrity, creative thinking, team-work, problem-solving, decision making, leadership, and facing failures as well.
These are essential and practical skills to live a better life ahead. Parents have to play a crucial role in building future business minds.
But how would they do it? Is it easy to cultivate the spirit of Entrepreneurship in children?
Founder of By Kids for Kids, Norman Goldstein, says “entrepreneurship should be cultivated as soon as children take their first seats in an educational setting. Kids need to be encouraged to make mistakes, to build things, and break things.”
They can be exposed to the areas of personal finance, networking, sales, marketing, promotion, communication, etc. when they reach to third or fifth standard.
Nowadays, children are really becoming successful entrepreneurs as they are doing businesses like – online stores, blogging, YouTube channel, a snack/ lemonade stand, etc.
In fact, it’s easier to cultivate this spirit in a child’s mind than teaching it to an adult.
Their developing mind captures each core of business simply if we involve them in related activities as early as possible.
