Reflecting on Mental Health

Are you aware of the statistics of people who are undergoing mental health therapies during this pandemic? Do you feel that it isn't normal to feel anxious, depressed, and sometimes angry?

Here is an outlandish fact. You aren't the only one who is feeling isolated from, you aren't the only one who wants to take a break from feeling depressed for being unproductive. Just for you to know, there has been a 65 percent jump in the therapies since the lockdown. Germofobics, salaried people who are unemployed now, teenagers who had entrance exams this year or the one's with no future plans, and many married couples are mentally affected and are facing basic functioning ability issues.

Apart from all the paranoia because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a big troll on the psychologists and psychiatrists too. The world is unaware of the fact that even those mental health professionals are normal people with just a little bit more patience and mental endurance. But, this pandemic has shattered them as well.

As a golden rule says, Mental health is as important as physical health.

Your mental health influences how you think, feel, and behave in daily life. It also affects your ability to cope with stress, overcome challenges, build relationships, and recover from life’s setbacks and hardships.

Having solid mental health doesn’t mean that you never go through bad times or experience emotional problems. We all go through disappointments, loss, and change. And while these are normal parts of life, they can still cause sadness, anxiety, and stress. But just as physically healthy people are better able to bounce back from illness or injury, people with strong mental health are better able to bounce back from adversity, trauma, and stress. This ability is called resilience.

Some of the common warming signs of mental illness include:

  • Long-lasting sadness or irritability.
  • Extremely high and low moods.
  • Excessive fear, worry, or anxiety.
  • Social withdrawal.
  • Dramatic changes in eating or sleeping habits.

Remember- Mental Health is as important as your physical well-being. Infact, sometimes it is more important than your physical well-being. When your mind supports, the body grows and follows it path. When the heart smile, your body feels alive!
