DECODING DREAMS
“The dream is the liberation of the spirit from the pressure of external nature, a detachment of the soul from the letters of matter” - Sigmund Freund
Ever been in a dream so realistic that you can’t figure out whether it was real or just a dream? Have you experienced a nightmare that you still remember and freak out? Do you ever question what lucid dreaming is or give it a try? Did you ever reflect on the hidden meaning of your dreams?
If we contemplate the scientific definition of dreams, it says that dreams are illusions or scenes that we visualize during the REM stage of sleep. REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage refers to the condition of the brain when its activity is elevated by significant levels and the subconscious brain gains power.
It’s correctly affirmed ‘what we think, we become’. Our dreams hold great meanings only if we try to explore them. Sometimes if you are constantly stuck between problems and suddenly you arrive at solutions in your dreams, it isn’t any miracle. It’s your subconscious giving you the signals to tackle your problems.
Dreams are medium via which you interact with your soul. Some scientists even argue that because we spend almost 20 years of our life asleep, dreams should be considered an alternate reality. Wonder why you experience jerks after seeing a fall dream? Well, it’s because your brain can’t comprehend what occurs after death.
If you ever get confused about whether you are stuck in a dream or not, look for clocks because you never see clocks in dreams, and even if you see one, the clock hands won’t move. One can never read in dreams because reading and dreaming are functions of two different parts of the brain that don’t cooperate while dreaming. Have you ever felt someone stare at you while you are sleeping? According to paranormal experts, if you feel this way or if you see some unknown person in your dreams, it might be a ghost staring at you while you are asleep. Freaky, isn’t it?
Dreams are manifestations of our thoughts. You dream about things you are constantly thinking about. Try to avoid social media before sleeping. Choose calming music before going to bed. Practice meditation. Try aromatherapy. These few practices will help you get a night of better sleep and good dreams!
